Arieta Nailagovesi is from Namena, Tailevu. She is one of the most friendly and helpful staff members at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva, Fiji. Arieta is 36 and has six lovely children.

Reflecting on her life’s journey, Arieta said that the most memorable event for her was becoming pregnant with her first child. She felt eternally grateful that she was able to have children, as in her service role meeting tourists every day, she has encountered many people who have not been able to have children. Her first child is named Osea, and once she had him, she was referred to as “Tinai Osea”, literally translated as “Mother of Osea”. This change in title is part of the Fijian culture and signifies the change in responsibilities for a person when they become a parent, namely, they are no longer primarily seen as an individual with their own name, but their identity is tied to their new and special role as the mother (or father) of this precious child.

Tinai Osea loves her work. In particular, she enjoys meeting and connecting with hotel guests from all over the world. Afterall, welcoming and caring for visitors is all part and parcel of her culture.

Blessings to Tinai Osea😊
